Attention Demon

The system cannot count gold, so it turns attention into coal and burns it. This world is that process told as a place.

A frame: each of us builds a small island of reality and throws over its edge everything that does not fit. The island feels like control. Below it, what we discarded settles and grows.

Above, a desert of ash. Inside, an ocean of attention grains where bodies swim like dolphins. Seeing light on the surface they rise toward it in schools, and at the surface the reins are waiting. Attention is gold, and gold can only be handed over willingly.

The video shows the harvest. The demon gathers victims and they hand over their fuel in a dance, while wires from its fingers bring in the crop. They keep dancing, though the space around them distorts them badly.

The demon is not evil. It is an activator. It drives people to make, to build, to work, and that is exactly why it cannot simply be refused. A person is fuel while on its leash, and a maker once they balance their chaos against their harmony.

Wires are only its surface. In its veins run grains of attention pressed into one stream, and at its heart a microprocessor invents new lures. Its sign is a Black Sun.
